How Does it Work?
Through our Volunteer Mentor program, we hope to pair mentors with Rising Stars from another camp, and open the door to new opportunities and sharing perspectives across camps! 

Who is eligible to be a Volunteer Mentor? 
​In order to apply to be a Volunteer Mentor, we ask that you: 

• Have attended the Mid America Camping Conference previously at least once. 
  
• Be a full-time camp professional that supervises staff.
  

What are the Duties of a Volunteer Mentor?

​Pre-Conference: 

• Arrange a virtual meeting with your Rising Star prior to January 7th to begin connecting and building a professional relationship. 
• Check-in with your Rising Star after their pre-conference Zoom meeting to answer any questions they may have, and share in the excitement. 
• Write one goal to challenge your mentee during the conference. 

During the Conference: 

• Attend the first Rising Stars meeting with your attendees- mentees will meet at 10:00am on Tuesday, and mentors will join the meeting at 11:30am. 
• Set up a Wednesday dinner meeting for your Rising Star with another camping professional attending the conference. The ideal dinner meeting match should be someone in a position your Rising Star strives for, or someone with a wealth of knowledge to share.
• Sit with your Rising Star at the opening keynote on Tuesday
• Eat breakfast with your Rising Star each morning

​After the Conference: 

• Take time to review the conference with your Rising Star. The Rising Star is responsible for setting up this meeting.
• Be intentional about staying connected with your Rising Star throughout the year- whether it be a random text, a zoom or phone call, or a note in their inbox, be a resource and cause for joy for your mentee. 
• Encourage your Rising Star to stay connected with those they met at MACC. The network of relationships built at MACC can be lifelines in future situations! ​
